Hey Mark, in my opinion it might be nice to have it organize by generation (such as Parley Newman & Jeanette Wilkinson Family and Frank Newman Sr and Lucille Wright Family) , or even by person. Is there a way to TAG people in the photos and the system organizing it by tagged person? That way if it’s specifically about a particular person, then you don’t need to sift through everything else.

Currently it seems overwhelming and I feel the need to just click the top left image and skim them all through.

    1. Good thought. Maybe you could send me a mock-up of what that might look like.

As far as tagging, right now it uses the search feature for word matches in a file’s title and description. So, if you put a name in the description, you will get a hit in that file when searching. As an example, try going to the Document library and search on the word Bridget. You should get a hit on Mike’s personal history.

  2. I’ve been wanting to answer your question, Mark, but I’m so limited in technological knowledge and skill that I don’t feel qualified to give an opinion. I don’t know how much effort it would be to create folders or how to go about it. Anything that makes the site easier to search seems like a good thing to do, but right now, searching for words and names in descriptions is working. Thank you for creating all of this!

  3. Here’s another thought. What about making chronological folders in the different libraries. For example, in the photo library a folder from 1900 to 1909, 1910 to 1919, 1920 to 1929, etc. This will require putting dates on all the photos but it would be a way to organize them. During decades that have many photos, maybe there could be sub-folders by year. For instance, 1960 to 1969 would be divided into 1960, 1961, 1962, etc. I think organizing chronologically helps if you want to follow the family through the years. Just a possibility.
